My name is Geraldine Dunne and I graduated from Dublin City University in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Psychology. Since 2001 I have supported people who have acquired a chronic health condition, and their families. The effects of such a diagnosis can impact on self-esteem, personal and family relationships, employment status and social life. I have worked extensively with individuals on issues such as managing stress, chronic pain, anger, depression and anxiety; as well as supporting people through relationship and family difficulties, significant life changes, loneliness, bereavement and loss.
In 2012 I completed an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, for which I was awarded First Class Honours. As part of my masters studies I carried out some research on the Psychological Experiences of Losing Weight.
My counselling approach is person-centred, and I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. In my work I use my knowledge of these approaches to pass on skills to my clients to enable them to better manage their own daily lives. My passion is for empowering people to overcome the obstacles and challenges that life presents and to find their own personal way of managing stress so they can live the life they choose to their fullest potential.
I am a fully accredited member of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I am fully insured.
